Build An Ant Empire has several different upgrade layers: colony-wide production upgrades, Egg Luck/Rolls, Ant Queen egg-tier progression, nest expansion and individual ant levels. There is no single fixed order for every stage; the right purchase is the bottleneck slowing your current loop.

Too little Food?
Buy Food Gain, level good ants, replace weak ants and improve speed.
Not enough workers?
Expand floors/slots, then roll enough ants to fill them.
Roster quality is bad?
Invest in Egg Luck, Egg Rolls and Queen progression — while keeping Cash to buy the result.
Travel is the bottleneck?
Use Ant Speed and Jelly rather than overpaying for another floor.
Duplicates piling up?
Feed unused ants into the Resource Converter instead of letting inventory clutter grow.
